Term Life Insurance for Physicians
Term life insurance provides death-benefit protection for a specified period. It generally does not build cash value. Renewal terms, conversion rights, and premium guarantees depend on the policy.

Choose a duration with a purpose
Put major obligations on a timeline: dependents becoming financially independent, a mortgage, or another defined commitment. Use that timeline to discuss duration rather than choosing solely on the lowest initial premium.
Look beyond the initial price
A renewable policy may allow continued coverage at a higher premium. A conversion provision may allow a move to an eligible permanent policy subject to stated conditions. Ask for the actual schedule, deadlines, and available choices; neither feature should be assumed.
Consider a training-to-practice transition
A resident and a new attending may have different budgets and obligations. Compare what is affordable now with the coverage need over time. This page does not quote a premium or predict future insurability.
Questions before signing
When does coverage become effective? What happens after the level-premium period? What exclusions apply? Can the premium change? If conversion matters to you, which contract provision gives that right and when does it expire?
